Contest Rules
- Registration begins on Feburary 15, 2010, and is done either electronically or via mail. Registration forms are available here.
- Only the first 25 acts registered will perform. If more than 25 registrations are taken, you will be notified and kept as an alternate act.
- At least one person in your group must live within the Monroe School District in order to enter into the contest.
- You may be in only ONE act per category. The oldest person in the group determines the category.
- You must check in by 5:30 p.m. on the night of the show or you may not be able to perform.
- The show begins at 6:00 p.m., and is expected to last 2 ½ hours.
- You are responsible for all of your own props. This includes instruments, microphones, etc.
- Entrance fee for each participant is $5.00 or $10.00 for a group.
- Your group or individual must supply their own CD in good condition for their performance. You will get your music back! Mark your music with your name, phone number, and track number.
- Maximum time limit for your performance or song will be limited to no more than 3 minutes 30 seconds in length. Please understand that we are under a time limit. It is only fair to all that we use the same time limit. At 3 minutes 30 seconds all music will be faded out.
- All songs and performances must be in good taste! This is a family event for all ages. Any performance done in poor taste will be interrupted and that performer will be disqualified.
- Amateur performers only. No professional groups are allowed to perform.
- As an act in the Monroe Lip Sync Contest you agree to allow us to use any likenesses, videos, or photographs taken of you during your act in Monroe Lip Sync Contest promotional materials.
- The competition will be judged in these categories:
- Lip Sync Abilities: How well the performer(s) lip-sync the lyrics of the song.
- Creativity: How original and creative the performance is. Instead of just standing on stage and lip-syncing a song, props, costumes and/or other ideas should be used and often impresses the judges and generates crowd response. Be creative!
- Stage Presence & Choreography: Again, don't just stand there! Engage the audience, dance, smile, make eye contact with the judges...have fun!
The top place winners in each category will perform at the Evergreen State Fair in August! They must perform the same song as they performed at the Lip Sync Contest.
